DOT
U.S. Department of Transportation. Lead federal regulator for trailer equipment.
FMVSS
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. FMVSS 108 governs lamps; FMVSS 121 governs air brake systems.
SAE J560 / J845 / J2042
Society of Automotive Engineers practices for trailer connector pinout, marker lights, and LED performance.
FOB
Free On Board. FOB-origin = buyer takes title at the supplier’s dock and covers freight inbound.
HTS
Harmonized Tariff Schedule. The HTS code determines duty rate and Section 301 exposure.
MOQ
Minimum Order Quantity. Factory-floor economics, not marketing.
PPAP
Production Part Approval Process: the AIAG-standard qualification package for a new part.
FAI
First Article Inspection: measured verification of the first production piece.
G70 chain
Alloy safety chain graded to transportation working-load limits. Required above 10,000 lb GVWR.
WLL
Working Load Limit. The maximum mass a chain or rigging is rated to support in normal service.
Axle capacity (2K–8K+)
Rated gross axle weight rating (GAWR) in pounds. Common trailer axles run 2,000, 3,500, 5,200, 6,000, 7,000, and 8,000+ lb.
Load range (LR C/D/E)
Trailer-tire ply-rating designation. Higher letters carry more load at higher inflation; LR C is light duty, LR E is the common ST heavy-duty trailer rating.
Hitch class (I–V)
SAE J684 receiver classification by GTW and tongue weight. Class III (5,000 lb GTW) is the common 2" receiver.
